Abstract

1468918 Induced draught systems CONSUMAT SYSTEMS Inc 4 July 1974 [9 Aug 1973] 29698/74 Headings F4B and F4J [Also in Division F2] In a flue system, waste gases, particularly from an incinerator 10, are delivered to the atmosphere by a stack 38, or are drawn through a duct 44 containing a heat exchanger 52 by an injector 76 downstream of the heat exchanger, to discharge through an auxiliary stack 46, or through a passage rejoining the main stack 38. Air jets 92 branched off from the supply to the injector 76 prevent cold air being drawn down the main stack. The amount of air delivered by the fan to the injector 76, or the proportion of air delivered to the jets in the main stack is controlled in accordance with the temperature and pressure of a steam or water drum connected to the heat exchanger. The system may form part of an incinerator plant having a secondary combustion chamber between the main combustion chamber and the flue system. The Specification describes a splitter valve to apportion the air between the main and auxiliary stacks and a failsafe arrangement for the boiler or steam generator.
