Abstract

1467257 Burner for waste gas disposal BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 24 April 1974 [11 May 1973] 22572/73 Addition to 1303439 Heading F4T A flare burner receives high pressure fuel gas, e.g. excess refinery waste gas or liquid petroleum gas, via line 4. The gas is discharged over a director surface 5, 6 which utilizes the Coanda effect to deflect the gas towards the zone of combustion of liquid fuel issuing from an atomizer nozzle 11. The gas flow over the surface 5, 6 also induces movement of the surrounding air towards the combustion zone and this enables a non-smoky flare to be obtained. Moreover, secondary air is drawn along passage 7 towards the combustion zone. The burner may be mounted vertically or horizontally.
