Abstract

1462530 Concrete-reinforcing bars STAHLWERKE PEINE-SALZGITTER AG 5 April 1974 [9 April 1973] 15205/74 Heading E1K A concrete reinforcing bar having transverse ribs on opposite curved sides of a core of oval cross-section so as to lie on opposite sides of the major axis of the core has the core and ribs formed in a single operation by arranging that the external surfaces of the ribs lie on a circle of diameter equal to or slightly less than the major axis of the core and that the central portions of the underlying curved surfaces of the core are cylindrically curved and concentric with the external surfaces of the ribs. Preferably, as shown, the central portion 4 of the curved surfaces of the core 1 subtend an angle of 70‹ and have a radius R1 resulting in a nominal rod diameter d, the diameter D of the circle on which the external surfaces of the ribs lie being equal to d x 1.125. The outer portions of the curved surfaces of the core 1 are eccentric and have a radius R2. The major axis 3 is slightly longer than diameter D so that longitudinal ribs 5 are formed.
