Abstract
146,002. Geer, H. E. Aug. 18, 1919. Fire and smoke tube superheaters.-In a steamsuperheater of the kind in which the end portions of a plurality of U-tube elements are fixed in a flange block and secured to a wall of a header which has a saturated and a superheated-steam chamber, pairs of recesses 15, 16 are formed in the outer face of said wall and are so arranged that one recess of a pair registers with the inlet ends, say, 5, 7, 9, 11 of the elements in flange block 14, and the other recess of the pair registers with the outlet ends, say 6, 8, 10, 12 of the elements in the same flange block, one recess of the pair communicating through a hole 17 in the header wall with the steam chamber 1, and the other recess of the said pair communicating through a hole 18 in the said wall with the steam chamber 2. The flange blocks may be secured to the header by any convenient screw devices, but are preferably secured by the means described in Specification 107,023 or 121,328. The header may be divided by more than one longitudinal partition to form saturated and superheated steam chambers.
