Abstract

1458072 Telecommunications cable LES CABLES DE LYON 18 Feb 1974 [23 Feb 1973] 7337/74 Heading H1A A telecommunications cable comprises a tubular conductor 4 formed from aluminium strip, which has at least one of its faces coated with a film 3, 5 of a non-grafted polymer such as polyethylene which is fixed to the strip 4 by a polyisocyanate or an epoxy-resin, cement, this cement giving rise to only negligible dielectric losses in use of the cable. The thickness of the conductor 4 may be about 0À37 mm., that of a polyethylene film 3 or 5 about 50 microns and that of a layer of cement 2 to 3 microns. The external plastics sheath 6 may be of high density polyethylene extruded at a relatively high temperature of 240 to 270‹C. to provide better adherence between the internal elements of the cable.
