Electrical insulation for wire comprises an inner layer of PTFE and an outer coating containing fillers, for example pigment, or electrically conducting material. The PTFE coating may be extruded around the wire and the outer coating applied by, for example, extrusion or passage through a bath of pigmented PTFE dispersion. The outer coating may be sintered at the same time as, or after, the inner one. The insulation may alternatively be made in the form of sleeving.
