Abstract

An insulated electrical conductor is formed by applying an adhesive to one face of an insulating strip, forming the strip into a tube around the conductor with the edges of the strip overlapping and with adhesive coating between the overlapping portions and passing the conductor around a pulley with the overlapping edges between the conductor and the pulley long enough for the overlapping portions to set sufficiently to stop them springing apart. An edge only of the face may be coated, a starchbased paste may be used and the insulation may be paper. The rotating pulley may be a capstan hauling the insulated wire.
