Abstract

1421796 Coaxial cable PIRELLI GENERAL CABLE WORKS Ltd 17 June 1974 [27 July 1973] 35960/73 Heading H1A [Also in Division H2] A coaxial cable has an outer conductor comprising two longitudinally applied metal tapes each with a coating of plastics material on one surface. One 18 is wrapped with its coating 18A facing and bonded to the dielectric 12 surrounding the inner conductor 10; the other tape 20 is wrapped with its metallic surface touching that of the first and with its coating 20 facing outwards and bonded to a tubular plastics sheath 16. Both tapes are wrapped to overlap, and may be arranged so that the overlaps are not on the same radius. The tapes may be of copper or aluminium coated with polyethylene, the dielectric may be solid or cellular polyethylene and the sheath may be polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride.
