Abstract
1375677 Coaxial cable INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 18 Jan 1973 [25 Jan 1972] 2672/73 Heading H1A A coaxial cable with low interference over a wide RF band, and suitable for indoor, outdoor and underground installation, includes an inner conductor 1, a solid or foamed plastics dieletric 2 and an outer conductor 3 comprising a longitudinal metal strip wrapped round the dielectric with a metal-to-metal overlap 7. Interference suppression and weather resistance are enhanced by a jacket 5 of metal strip coated on both sides with plastics and secured by bonding the longitudinal overlap 8. A plastics sheath 6 is bonded to the jacket 5. Preferably the overlaps 7 and 8 are diametrically opposed. A helical winding 4 of plastics or metal tape is added over the outer conductor 3, and may be bonded or cemented to the inner plastics coating of the jacket 5.
