Abstract
1305505 Cables KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 10 May 1971 [12 May 1970] 13923/71 Heading H1A [Also in Division H4] In an electrical high frequency signal transmission line Fig. 1, the return conductor 2 is in the form of a tube consisting of a layer of partly or wholly insulated wires applied spirally and closed together, or a spirally applied insulated metal band, the individual turns overlapping or abutting each other. An outer sheath 4 and the forward conductor 1 are shown in Fig. 1. The tube may also be employed in the form of a shield around a two wire line, enclosing both wires which run parallel, embedded in a common dielectric. The construction of this tube gives rise to a spiral induction-produced field outside the line, related to that of the signal carried by the line, but prevents the electric field from radiating directly. The system may be used in station to rail vehicle communication.
