1471885 Aerials COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd 14 May 1974 [23 May 1973] 24561/73 Heading H4A [Also in Division H1] A leaky cable communication system ineludes a cable 5 comprising a signal conductor 6 and a plurality of screening conductors 7, 8 spaced therefrom and extending generally. longitudinally of the cable, the signal and screening conductors being contained within a common sheath 9 of insulating material. As shown the cable may be stapled to a support 12, apertures 10 being provided with axes parallel with the minor axis of the cable when there are three conductors lying in one plane. The middle conductor may be connected to the aerial terminal 4 of a radio-unit 3 while the other two are connected to the earthy terminal. Alternatively there may be three conductors in a cylindrical sheath (Fig. 2, not shown) preferably in an equilateral triangular spacing, the sheath may have a protuberance (17) to define a datum. Again there may be five conductors, four lying with their axes in a cylindrical surface within which the fifth or signal conductor is located (Fig. 3, not shown). The signal conductor may have a foamed coating (23) or all of the conductors may have a foamed coating (Fig. 4, not shown) the group of five being bound together with a thin insulating tape to provide a plurality of air spaces. The five may be spaced apart by insulating webs (30, Fig. 5, not shown) likewise to have air spaces.
