Abstract
1487755 Coaxial cable BUNKER RAMO CORP 1 Oct 1974 [1 Oct 1973] 42569/74 Heading H1A A high frequency coaxial cable has an outer conductor with a convoluted, preferably corrugated, inner surface; at least one inner conductor around which is a dielectric member with a plurality of axially aligned arms 22, 23, 24 which are locked in place by engaging an inward protrusion or protrusions located on the innermost surface of the convolutions, the radial depth of the protrusion being selected to control an electrical characteristic of the cable, preferably the characteristic impedance. Preferably the protrusion 13 extends around the perimeter of the cable. The inner conductor 20 may be of silver coated strands. The outer conductor 11 may have interlocking portions, may be silver plated on its inner surfaces A, and may be soldered 14 at its interlocking portion. The outer conductor may be enclosed in a wire mesh braid 15 and a plastics outer jacket 16. The dielectric may be polytetrafluorethylene.
