Abstract

1366140 Cable BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd and BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD 1 June 1972 [2 June 1971] 18671/71 Heading H1A A communication cable comprises a conductive core surrounded by a body of insulating material of which at least a radially outermost part has a high resistance to mechanical abrasion and moisture penetration, the overall radial thickness of the insulation being at least 2¢, e.g. 3 times the diameter of the conductive core. The insulation, extruded or tape, may be formed from at least two layers of plastics material, the outer layer being of, e.g. a high density polyethene, polyvinyl chloride or nylon and the inner layer of, e.g. low density polyethene. The core is of a material having a high mechanical strength coated with a conductor, e.g. a single steel wire coated with copper.
