Abstract

1448607 Cable with skid wire INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 4 Oct 1974 [12 Oct 1973] 43149/74 Heading H1A An electrical cable 10, for installation within a metal pipe 11, comprises an insulated core 12, an outer electrostatic screening layer 15 and "skid wires" comprising longitudinal metal wires (19, 20, 21) embedded in a partially conducting synthetic plastics material, the skid wires being wound helically over the layer 15. The plastics material may be high density polyethylene, p.v.c. or nylon, loaded with carbon black, and the longitudinal wires may be steel. The skid wires may have a D-shaped cross-section (Fig. 2, not shown). Dynamic coefficients of friction for the skid wires are quoted. [GB1448607A]
