Abstract

The cable may carry several electrical conductors and conductors of fluids at high pressures. The cable is armoured in such a way that flexing causes minimum crushing or twisting effects on the individual channels and conductors. The electrical conductors may include coaxial channels (1) for T.V. requirements and multiple conductors in discrete groups (3) arranged symmetrically about the cable centre. Traction strength is provided by a sheath of steel cables (7) surrounding a helically wound tube (6) of 'S' or 'Z' shaped steel strip, interlocking and protecting the integrity of the circular section of the conductor volume. The outer surface (8) of the complete cable is extruded polyurethane.
