Abstract

1457522 A safety closure C BOGERT 30 Nov 1973 [1 Dec 1972] 55681/73 Heading B8T A safety closure comprises a container 10 having a neck portion 11, the neck portion 11 having threads 12 and serrations 13 along a portion of the threads 12, a cap 14 having cooperating threads 15 and having means 16 for engaging with the serrations 13, and a resilient member 18 disposed between the cap 14 and the neck portion 11. The construction is such that by screwing on the cap 14 the resilient member 18 is initially depressed against the wall 17 of the opening of the neck portion 11 and by releasing the cap the member 18 springs back whereby the cap is slightly lifted to enable the means 16 to become engaged within the serration 13. The cap 14 may be provided with an annular flange (19) Fig. 5 (not shown) for engaging with the opening of the neck portion 11. The resilient member 18 may be in the form of discs (18a), (18b) Figs. 7 and 9 (not shown). In alternative embodiments the threads 12 on the neck portion 11 may be provided with notches (13a) or (13b), Figs. 6 and 8 (not shown) which are located at different positions of the threads and likewise, the cap 14 may be provided with co-operating means (16a) or (16b), Figs. 7 and 9 (not shown) for engaging with the notches.
