Abstract

143,306. Hall, H. R., and Scholes, W. Feb. 18, 1919. Spray carburettors.-Fuel is supplied to the nozzle f by a pump comprising a piston c, an inlet valve b, and a delivery valve e, the piston being operated by a diaphragm d having cne side in communication with the engine induction pipe and the other side open to the atmosphere. The air supply, which passes through the diaphragm chamber h, may be heated, and controlled by a valve i, which may be governor-actuated. A drain-pipe. j may be provided. A rapid reduction of pressure to work the pump may be produced by retaining the cylinder inlet valve closed for the first portion of the suction stroke.
