Abstract

143,286. Davis, R. W. Feb. 7, 1919. Hulls.-The hulls of ships are constructed with converging sides 6 and a flat bottom 1, which flat bottom is extended beyond the sides at the bow and stern, such extensions 14 being connected to the sides by curved plates 13. It is stated that this construction increases the stability of the vessel. The chords of the curved sections of the plates 13 are at a greater angle to the vertical at the central portions of the extensions than at the ends.
