Abstract

138,760. McLaren, W. D., Welsh, G. M., and Johnstone, J. G. April 5, 1919. Hulls.-In ships constructed of straight transverse members for the after-body, side tanks are placed under the deck and outside the shell plating in order to increase the width of the deck at the stern. The side frame member 1 - - 7 as well as the transverse sections of the tanks mentioned are parallel or approximately parallel. The plating in this form of construction is readily expandable.
