Abstract

165,127. Haver, A. H. Jan. 2, 1920. Drawings to Specification. Hulls.-With a view to reducing the resistance to propulsion of ships having one or more corrugations extending from the water-line to within a short distance of the bilge, the ratio of height of the corrugation, measured horizontally from the vessel's side, to the length of the chord measured vertically is arranged to lie between 0.18 and 0.28 and the ratio of the average length of the corrugations to the length of the vessel deviates from the block co-efficient by not more than 5 per cent. Shallow-draught vessels have one corrugation, ocean-going ships of medium size two, whilst liners and war ships have three corrugations.
