Abstract

1432511 Jetting; rotary drilling SOLETANCHE 24 Jan 1974 [12 Feb 1973] 03339/74 Heading E1F A jet drilling machine for disintegrating earth comprises an annular manifold 4 connected to a feed duct 7 extending parallel to the axis of the manifold for feeding high pressure fluid to nozzles 10 mounted on the manifold and directed substantially parallel to the axis of the manifold, a rotary pump assembly 11 located on the side of the manifold remote from the nozzles and driven by an adjacent motor 17, the pump having an intake port 13 radially inside the annular ring of nozzles and arranged to receive in use of the apparatus disintegrated earth, the pump being connected to an outlet duct 15 substantially parallel to the axis of the manifold, and the motor driving the pump having an axle 19 carrying a device 18 which on rotation disintegrates any central core of earth not removed by jetting. Preferably the machine is constructed to be movable in a drilling casing or tube. For guidance in such casing or tube the machine may have a frame supporting rollers that will bear on the walls of the casing or tube.
