Abstract

1431529 Jet mills FLUID ENERGY PROCESSING & EQUIPMENT CO 22 Oct 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 45611/74 Heading B2A To prevent incrustation the discharge outlet duct 18 Fig. 1 of a jet mill 10 has a screen 36 whose cross-section conforms to the interior cross section of the duct 18, and is inwardly spaced therefrom, gaseous fluid being delivered to the space. This fluidises material in the duct and prevents it sticking. In one embodiment the screen 36 is held in place by a manifold ring 38, Fig. 2, which inclines radial ports 40, and is supplied with gas via a conduit 46. The manifold ring may be arranged outside the duct, Fig. 4, not shown or may be replaced with a single supply conduit 56, the screen 52 being supported by brackets 54, Fig. 3. The mill 10 includes auxiliary jets 34 to assist circulation around the outlet opening 17. The screen may be used in the gas discharge duct 112 of a horizontal jet mill 100 Fig. 5.
