Abstract
690,842. Tube mills. MITCHELL ENGINEERING, Ltd. Jan. 3, 1952 [Jan. 22, 1951], No. 1653/51. Class 59 In an air extraction tube mill 3 for pulverizing solid material, air under pressure is delivered through a jet 15 to the throat of a Venturi tube 17 so as to draw the air in a duct 11 through an ejector chamber 14 and drive it down the outlet duct 18. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown); the air is introduced into the throat of the Venturi tube through a coned annular nozzle formed in the wall of the throat. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the air is delivered through a ring of nozzles projecting inwards from the walls of the ejector chamber and directed in the direction of flow of the pulverized material. The Provisional Specification describes also a Venturi tube made of a material highly resistant to abrasion or having a replaceable lining of resistant material.
