Abstract

689,680. Pneumatic conveyers. ALDER, G. A., and RAULT, R. Oct. 18, 1951. [Oct. 18, 1950] No. 24347/51. Class 78 (i). Steam or air at high pressure is supplied to the conduit 1 along its axis by a pipe 6 and induces a flow of atmospheric air through the apertures 7, the arrangement being such that material supplied from the hopper 2 enters the induced current of air before its combination with the high pressure steam or air. The apertures 7 are formed in a disc 5, which closes the end of the conduit and carries a rotatable apertured ring 8 which controls the admission of air. The disc 5 and pipe 6 are complementarily screw-threaded to permit the longitudinal adjustment of the latter member. The nut 9 which locks the pipe 6 in position may also lock the ring 8. A removable ring 12, Fig. 4, is placed between the flanges of the hopper and the connection 10. The size of the ring selected depends on the nature of the material conveyed. This ring may be.replaced by a perforated slide. Additional high pressure air, &c. may be supplied through nozzles 15 and atmospheric air through regulatable apertures 14. Water may be supplied through a pipe 23 and chamber 22 to jets 24 opening into the conduit. The hopper may be replaced by a suction.pipe 17 provided with means 19, 20 for controlling the flow of air.
