Abstract
384,049. Spray-producers. BYRD, A. A. A., 110, Mansion House Chambers, Queen Victoria Street, London. Nov. 5, 1931, No. 30682. [Class 69 (iii).] In a nozzle for spraying cement &c. in plastic or liquid form of the type in which a stream of compressed air picks up and projects the material fed under pressure into a chamber 3, the chamber is made of gradually increasing cross-sectional area in the forward direction. Preferably the cement is given a swirling motion on entry into the chamber from the feed passage 10 either by disposing the direction of the passage tangentially or by the provision of a block 8 with a spiral port. The front of the chamber 3 is fitted with interchangeable caps 17 having a central opening 19, and may also be provided with a strainer 18. The feed passage 10 has a constricted part 22 and is closed by a spring-pressed plunger 23. The air supply pipe 5 is adjustably secured in the main block 1 and has interchangeable nozzles 6. A slide valve 13 controls the supply of air from the pipe 11. A pivoted lever operates both the valve 13 and the plunger 23, and is connected therewith so that the air supply is connected up before and cut off after the cement &c. supply.
