639,762. Jet pulverizers. MICRONIZER CO. Aug. 6, 1948, No. 20848. [Class 59] A circulatory pulverizing mill having a grinding chamber 16 which is substantially round and flat to receive the raw material to be ground which is maintained in circulation around the grinding chamber by jets 17 of high pressure steam or gas and including an outlet conduit 24 for the ground material leading from a central opening in one flat end wall 11 of the grinding chamber 16 and ex-tending into the grinding chamber towards its opposite flat wall 20, has said outlet conduit 24 surrounded within the grinding chamber by a guard ring 21 extending from said opposite flat wall 20 and concentric with the outlet conduit 24 which is telescoped within the guard ring 21, which latter is formed with a number of tangentially-directed openings 30 passing through its wall at or close to the end at which the guard ring extends from the flat wall 20 of the grinding chamber, and/or said mill has the flat wall 20 of the grinding chamber formed with a symmetrical depression 23 directly opposite the outlet conduit 24 and having a diameter. greater than the external diameter of the outlet conduit 24. The depression 23 may be in the form of a segment of a sphere or an inverted truncated cone. Specification 432,191 and U.S.A. Specification 2,032,827 are referred to.
