Abstract

1404060 Jet mills E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 13 Oct 1972 [15 Oct 1971] 47355/72 Heading B2A The end walls 8, 9 of a jet mill each include one or more ring-shaped discontinuities 12 which reduce the fluid velocity at the end surfaces and increase residence time of material in the milling chamber. The ring is located at a distance from the axis of 0.50 to 0.86 of the radius of the chamber. The ring may be in various forms, Figs 3-7 (not shown), and the end walls may be flat or divergent. Superheated steam is discharged at 7 and product at 6 into a conical enclosure 13 which forms a centrifugal separator, in the usual way.
