Abstract
1393560 Blasting KINA ENG Ltd 12 Nov 1973 [28 Dec 1972] 59950/72 Heading B3D Abrading apparatus comprises an elongate hollow body 1 having a first inlet 12 for high pressure liquid, a second inlet 17 for an abrasive means, an element 4 having jet means 16 removably located in the body and connected to the first inlet and arranged such that, in use, high pressure liquid flowing through the jet means causes a partial vacuum for drawing abrasive material through the second inlet to form an abrasive slurry with the liquid, and an outlet for the resultant slurry. The inlet 12 is formed in the wall of the hollow body 1 to which is secured a tube 2 forming the outlet. The element 4 consists of a bobbin 4 located against a shoulder 5 in the body by a coupling 3 connectable to a source of abrasive, such as sand. The flanges 7 of the bobbin define an annular chamber 11 connected to the inlet 12 which, in turn, is connected by a conduit 13 and coupling 14 to a high pressure source of water. One flange 7 of the bobbin has a series of jets 16 inclined towards the axis of the apparatus, the water passing through the jets forming a partial vacuum to draw the sand through the bore 18 in the bobbin.
