Abstract
1429516 Producing aerosol sprays R S BABINGTON 22 May 1973 [22 May 1972] 24279/73 Heading B2F [Also in Division Fl] A spray producer comprises apparatus of the type described in Specification 1156259 and operating in accordance with the method described in Specification 1176819, in which the plenum chamber has a spherical end portion with an aperture therein. In the embodiment shown in Fig. I liquid pumped from flask 10 to a reservoir 25 by a bubble pump 28, 19 flows on to the spherical surface of plenum 13 and is entrained by air passing out of the aperture 15, the discharge passing through the funnel 27 with ejector action, the flask 10 having air inlets 5. Means may be provided for topping up the liquid in the flask 10 (Fig. 2, not shown). The liquid may be electrically heated (Fig. 5 not shown). The bubble pump may have a control valve (Fig 4 not shown). In the Fig 6 embodiment aligned chambers 113, 113' are arranged so that the discharge from chamiber 113 impinges on the chamber 113'. The discharge from two chambers may impinge (Figs. 8, 10 not shown). A spherical impingement member may be mounted in alignment with the discharge from a plenum (Fig. 9 not shown). In the Fig. 7 embodiment a single plenum has two oppositely directed apertures which mix with air in the shroud 153, the aperture 157 being larger than 157 to cause outflow through opening 152 and the induction of air through apertures 161. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1156259 and 1176819.
