Abstract

1428592 Water tube boilers; burners ISHIKAWAJIMA - HARIMA JUKOGYO KK 4 July 1974 [12 July 1973] 29728/74 Headings F4A and F4T In a water tube boiler consisting of a wall 6 made up of boiler tubes interconnected by plates 7, at least one burner port 1 is provided in the wall 6 and at least one air port 8 is provided in the wall 6 above the or each burner port 1, formed by a hole in a plate 7, such that an air duct 10 supplies air to the or each air port. The ducts 12 leading to the or each burner port 1 are provided with adjustable dampers as are the air ducts and ducts 11 interconnecting the air port(s) 8 and the burner port(s) 1. Pollution in the exhaust gases is reduced by opening the burner air dampers 13 while the bias-air inlet dampers 9a are opened a little more and the burner-air bias dampers 11a are closed a little so that the air blowing into the furnace 23 through ports 8 is increased in volume while the air blown in the furnace through the burner port 1 is reduced in volume. A variety of combustion conditions is effected by operation of the dampers 9a, 11a and 13 and the use of blowers 22 and 21.
