Abstract

1,030,315. Gas burners. JOHN ZINK CO. March 25, 1963 [Nov. 16, 1962], No. 11754/63. Heading F4T. In a gas burner head comprising a plurality of hollow arms 11 radiating from a hollow hub 12 mounted on a gas/air mixture supply conduit 14, each arm has an arched ridge 23 flanked by two lateral concave surfaces 24, 26 and discharge ports 42, 43 are provided on each side of the ridge in transverse alignment with additional discharge ports 46, 47 on the concave surfaces 24, 26, Fig. 5 (not shown). The axes of the ports 42, 43 are diverging. Each arm is sealed at its outer end by a wall 21 and has two side flanges 34, 36 along the outer part of its length. Vertical gusset webs 39, 41 are formed integral with the side flanges 34, 36 and the side walls 31, 32 of the arms. Secondary air is supplied over the outside of the arms through a furnace wall opening 16 controlled by a movable plate 18. In a modification, further vertical or inclined gas discharge ports are provided at the centre of the ridge near the outer ends of the arms.
