Abstract

1,202,514. Burners. PENZENSKY KOMPRESSORNY ZAVOD. 17 Jan., 1969, No. 2837/69. Heading F4T. A gas burner, shown mounted in a channel 16 in the wall of a cupola furnace chamber for melting metal, comprises a converging nozzle 6 supplied with a gaseous oxidizere.g. air, and an inner coaxial distributing tube 12, supplied with combustible gas, which projects beyond the outlet end 15 of the nozzle and has a central outlet end opening 14 and lateral openings 13 located some inside and some outside the nozzle outlet 15. Preferably the area of opening 14 and the total areas of the lateral openings within and without the nozzle are 0À2-0À5%, 2-5% and 1-2À5% respectively of the annular area of the nozzle outlet, to give intense vorticity and rapid mixing of gas and air. Gas is supplied after the air has been turned on, the mixture is ignited on leaving the nozzle, and most is burnt within the tunnel 16.
