Abstract

1426825 Regulating IC engine mixture supply HONDA GIKEN KOGYO KK 31 May 1973 [31 May 1972] 26044/73 Heading F1B A main throttle valve 5 and an auxiliary throttle valve 6 of carburetting apparatus for controlling the supply of a mixture to a main combustion chamber 1 and a richer mixture to a pre-combustion chamber 3 respectively, are connected by a cam 7 and a lever 8 providing a predetermined relation between the movements of the two valves and by rods 9, 11 with an intermediate diaphragm 14. The diaphragm 14 is contained in a casing and defines therewith a chamber 12 connected to the atmosphere through a hole 15 and a chamber 13 connected to the atmosphere through a restriction 16 and a check-valve 17. In operation, when the valve 5 is opened suddenly the valve 6 is opened at a greater rate than the rate of opening provided by co-operation of the cam 7 and follower 26 by the rods 9, 11. The follower 26 is then returned by the spring 19 to contact the cam 7 at a rate permitted by the flow of air into the chamber 13 through the restriction 16. On sudden closure of the valve 5 the valve 17 opens to permit the spring 19 to retain the follower 26 in contact with the cam 7.
