Abstract

1426149 Thread rolling feed mechanism HARTFORD SPECIAL MACHINERY CO 10 Oct 1974 [14 Dec 1973] 43995/74 Heading B3M A blank feeding mechanism for a thread rolling machine includes a starter blade 36 which gates and feeds blanks from a fixed delivery shoot 14 to the working space between a fixed die 16 and a reciprocating die 18, the blade being supported on a resilient arm 110 which is cantilevered at one end 112 and urges the blade towards the right (in Fig. 1). A crank 48 which is pivoted at 50 carries a stop 104 at the end of one of its arms the stop serving to retract the starter blade to the left when the crank is rotationally indexed clockwise. Indexing of the crank is controlled by an adjustable linkage 64, 46 whose movement is derived from a cam follower 78. The follower co-operates with a rotatable cam 38 and rotates about a normally fixed (but adjustable) pivot 66. The feeding mechanism is suitable for feeding relatively small blanks (0À045 to 0À125 inch dia.) at high speed (1000/min.).
