Abstract
932,065. Rolling screw-threads. HARTFORD SPECIAL MACHINERY CO. Dec. 20, 1960 [July 19, 1960], No. 43712/60. Class 83 (4). In a screw-thread rolling-machine in which a reciprocating platen 18 is mounted on an inclined table 13, Fig. 3, the supply of blanks from gravity feed tracks 66 is controlled by a pivoted arm 80, carrying a finger 83 which operates both as a gate to release each blank and as a pusher for wedging each blank into its starting position under the edge of the fixed platen 17. The platen 18 is reciprocated by a crank-wheel 50 through a crank-pin 63 and connecting-rod 60, the pin 63 having adjustment by eccentric 128 for changing the timed relationship of the platens. The arm 80 is oscillated by a cam 95 on the crank-wheel 50 through a pivoted follower 98 and link 102 which over one portion of the cam 95 act to retract the finger 83 so that it releases a blank. When the follower 98 engages a recessed portion of the cam 95 the finger 83 is urged forward to wedge the blank in position by a spring 105 attached between the follower 98 and a pin 106 on the table 13. Means for preventing operation of the cam 95 during setting &c. is provided by a releasable clamp 117 which normally holds the pivot 99 for the follower 98 in a fixed position on the end of an arm 100. Stops 90, 91 limit the movement of the finger 83 in the wedging position.
