Abstract
1416639 Vent closure for multi-cell storage battery SOC FULMEN and COMPAGNIE EUROPEENNE D'ACCUMULATEURS 13 Nov 1973 [24 Nov 1972] 52732/73 Heading H1B A unitary closure, which may be made of moulded plastics material, for the electrolyte filling holes of a storage battery comprises a number of hollow stoppers 1, 2, 3, one for each cell, integral with a plate 9 having gas vent holes 10. Each stopper has an upstanding funnel 5 to return escaped electrolyte. Any electrolyte droplets which may leave the funnel 5 through a hole 6 are returned by a sleeve 11, concentric with the funnel, and holes 8. The sleeves 11 are integral with a cover 14 hinged at 15 to the plate 9 and which may be pivoted from the open position, Fig. 2, to the closed position, Fig. 3, and attached to the plate by engagement of a peripheral flange 17 in a recess 16. The battery is filled by removing the entire closure.
