Abstract

1415331 Frameworks; ladders CARL KEIJSER & CO AB 23 Nov 1972 [23 Nov 1971] 54215/72 Headings E1K and E1S [Also in Division F2] A framework (e.g. a ladder) comprises at least two parallel I-sectioned beams 11 (e.g. the ladder's stiles), the web of each beam comprising a central portion 13 of uniform thickness which is connected to each flange 17, 19 by a respective outwardly divergent portion 14, 15 and the webs of adjacent beams are interconnected by rectangularly sectioned struts 61 having their ends secured in spaced apertures 16 in the central portion of the web and also having flanges which wedgingly interlock with the divergent portions of the web. The struts are formed with a first flange 62 spaced from their ends so that the ends can be inserted into the apertures 16 and then deformed to form second flanges 63. The divergent portions 14, 15 may have straight or curved surfaces. Details are given of the relative dimensions of the various portions of the beams.
