Wall or roof panels for buildings, which may be of, e.g., metal, plastics, or asbestos cement, each have a V- sectioned channel formed therein, which goes in width from nothing at one end of the panel to the full width of the panel either at the centre (as shown) or the end thereof. In the generally rectangular panel shown, a metal sheet has edge flanges 7, sloping triangular body portions adjacent the channel, a central transverse groove 9, a central hole 10, and a tubular longitudinal differing formation 6 (which may alternatively be of rounded rectangular, or T section). Such a panel may be made up of two identical halves, each of which has a straight or V-shaped (in plan) connecting edge at the centre of the composite panel, which will accordingly be generally planar, or generally V-shaped in elevation, (Figs. 6, 14, not shown). The panel halves may be separated by latticed wall or roof beams (Fig. 13). A sheet metal panel may have, e.g., a foamed plastics coating layer on each face, interconnected via holes in the panels, and the tubular stiffening formation may contain a foamed plastics filling, or a stressed enforcement.
