Abstract

1,044,555. Building structures. PACIFIC VEGETABLE OIL CORPORATION. Feb. 12, 1964 [Feb. 13, 1963], No. 5950/64. Heading E1V. Panels 10 located between webs 18 and flanges 13, 14 of pairs of I-beams 11, in contact with the flanges 13 and spaced from the webs 18 and the flanges 14, are secured in such position by a plastics foam material 23 which fills a space between the panels and inner surfaces of each I-beam 11 and a channel shaped cap 20 which covers the flanges 14 and contacts the panels. The plastics, which is pre-foamed, is introduced into the space through one or more openings in the cap 20. A cutting filament 25 embedded in the plastics foam material can be drawn across the edge faces of the panel 10 to release the panel so that it may be removed in the longitudinal direction of the I-beams in the event of dissembly of the building. The invention is applicable to walls, ceilings or roofs. The panels may comprise a core 12 of plastics foam material sandwiched between layers 15, 16 of sheet material such as aluminium, plywood or asbestos cement.
