Abstract

980,041. Building panels. BUTLER MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 9, 1963 [Jan. 8, 1963], No. 48538/63. Heading E1B. [Also in Division B5] A panel for the cladding of walls and roofs of buildings comprises steel sheets 19, 20, 119, 120 facing a core 18 of foamed polyurethane, the sheets each extending beyond the core on one side edge of the panel to provide an overlap between adjacent panels, and each panel being provided with a sealing strip 26, 126 to close the joint. The sheets are ribbed 19a, 20a and the sides of the panel are closed by Z- sectioned members 22 of fibrous resin, the core 18 being cast within the panel. As shown in Fig. 3, the sealing strip 26 receives a rib 19d formed on the extension 19b of the sheet 19. The sealing strips are of a vinyl foam or a butyl mastic and as shown in Fig. 7 are protected with a removable paper covering 126a. The panels are secured to each other and to the supporting framework with fasteners 27, the sheet 20 of roofing panels extending beyond one or both end edges to provide for overlap. The roofing panels may be arcuate.
