Abstract

1341684 Roofing panels for buildings H H ROBERTSON CO 24 Aug 1971 [27 June 1970] 31265/70 Heading E1W A roofing panel consists of a corrugated undersheet 12, preferably of sheet steel or aluminium alloy, the corrugations extending longitudinally of the sheet, an intermediate layer 13 of a closed cell, polymeric foam, and an outer layer 15 of waterproofing material, the undersheet terminating at each lateral edge in a flange, the flange 12c at one edge sidelapping the edge portion of the undersheet of an adjacent panel, a flange 12e provided on this edge portion entering a slot 13b in the foam layer 13 and engaging the foam to provide a seal. Screws 16 secure the overlapping portions of adjacent undersheets together, and further screws 20 secure the undersheet to roof support members 10 of angle section or to roof support members (10', Fig. 4, not shown) of I section. In the former case, extension plates 25 may be fitted where adjacent ends of two panels are to be secured to a roofing member. Feather strips 31 of plastics material inserted in slots 30 provide a vapour seal, if desired. Bores 17, 21 through which the screws 16, 20 are inserted may be afterwards filled by plugs 18, 22, respectively. A layer 14 of high density plastics may be interposed between the foam layer 13 and the outer layer 15, the latter being preferably of bituminised felt. An overall covering comprising two layers 26, 27 of, e.g., bituminous roofing felt may be secured over the assembled panels. Alternatively, a sheet of dimensionally stabilized butyl rubber or PVC may be used for this purpose.
