Abstract

797,415. Wall partitions. SELECTION ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Sent. 15, 1954, No. 26713/54. Class 20(4)' A jointing post for securing edges of adjacent panels or partitions and comprising an elongated hollow member with opposed parallel side walls two or more of which have a longitudinally extending channel to receive and closely engage the edge of a panel, is constructed of elongated elements, 1, 2, 5, 9 or 10, formed of sheet material, at least two of which are rigidly secured together by means of inturned edge portions of one, 3, 10a or 11a, engaging over the edge portions of the other and further by a continuous coating of a protective material, such as galvanizing, applied over the edge portions after assembly. As shown in Fig. 3, a corner 'post is formed from a large right angle section 9 and small section 10 joined to U-sections 2 by intumed edge portions 11a, l0a and in Fig. 2, a straight sheet 1 has ends 3 turned in around flanges 6 on a U-section 5, the channels being completed by a removable element 1a with inturned edges 3a secured by screws 8. Two elements 1 and two U-sections 2 are joined by ends 3 to form a straight jun.ction and one element 1, three U-sections 2 and two angle sections 10 are joined by inturned ends 3 and 10a to form a three way junction. Similarly, four U-sections 2 and four sections 10 can be joined to form a post of cruciform section. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 722,274.
