Abstract

1473644 Structural bars R A H HEARD 2 Aug 1974 [22 June 1973] 29871/73 Heading E1K [Also in Divisions F2 and G5] A large outdoor sign is built up from multiple panels 10 secured in edge-to-edge abutting relationship by means of metal extrusions 12 secured to the respective edges of adjacent panels by rivets or bolts 22 passing through flanges 16 of the extrusions. The extrusions are of generally S-shaped sections and when arranged face-to-face, Fig. 1, walls 14 may be bolted or riveted together at 24 to join the panels 10 together. Inturned limbs 20 define a channel 26 having a restricted mouth 28 to receive attachment members such as 30 by which the sign may be attached to posts. Alternatively, the extrusions may be joined together by link plates bolted to limbs 20 or the like. Various cross-sections of the extrusions are disclosed.
