Abstract

1412133 Spraying nozzles; mixing fluids DELAVAN MFG CO 17 Oct 1972 [27 Oct 1971] 47852/72 Headings B1C and B2F A nozzle which produces a swirling discharge comprises fluid inlets 22, 33 to a mixing chamber 12, the inlet 22 entering the chamber tangentially, the mixture during discharge impinging on surfaces at two locations, to enhance atomisation. As shown, a mixture of gas and liquid impinge first on a surface 52 which has three radial arms 54 and is accelerated along an annular passage 64 to impinge on the surface 60 of a disc 58. The nozzle produces a cone shaped spray and the disc 58 may be located in a position coplanar with the discharge outlet or just upstream or downstream thereof. The liquid is supplied axially into the generally cylindrical chamber 12 where it is mixed with gas supplied through inlet 22 and caused to swirl by the tangential disposition thereof with respect to the said chamber.
