Abstract
1,250,004. Spray producers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 14 Feb., 1969 [19 Feb., 1968], No. 7989/68. Heading B2F. A spray device comprises a circulation chamber 1 having an aperture 4 at each end, first feeding means 6 connecting with the chamber for directing a first fluid into the chamber so as to form a vortex therein aligned on an axis passing through the apertures, second feeding means for directing a second fluid into the chamber through one aperture so as to flow towards the other aperture, the second fluid passing through the eye of the vortex of the first fluid and carrying particles thereof away from the inner surface of the vortex through the other aperture in the form of a spray, and exhausting means for enabling first fluid not carried into said spray to escape from the chamber. The first feed means may comprise tangential duct 6, and deflectors 8 may be provided to aid circulation or to impart a radial motion to said second fluid to increase contact with the vortex. A plurality of devices may be placed in series, the exhaust from one providing first fluid for the next.
