Abstract

883,474. Centrifugal separators. RAKOWSKY, V. July 29, 1958 [Aug. 21, 1957], No. 24462/58. Class 23. Apparatus for separating solids comprises a body 5, an inlet 12 for a carrier medium which is supplied to the body to form a vortex having an inner surface 20, an inlet 14 for the solids, a peripheral outlet 10 for medium and the higher specific gravity solids, a baffle 17 between the outlet 10 and the inlet 14, and an aerial outlet 8 for medium and the higher specific gravity solids. The apparatus shown is adapted for vertical operation and the inlet 14 has a deflector 16 which directs the solids on to the surface 20. In separators for horizontal or inclined operation the deflector is disposed with. The inlet 14, the outlet 8, and the baffle 17 may be axially adjustable. Valves may be fitted in the outlets or the outlets may be provided with flexible conduits formed into goosenecks. U.S.A. Specification 2,725,983 is referred to.
