1411964 Magnesia heat storage bricks DIDIER-WERKE AG 14 Dec 1972 [15 Dec 1971] 57724/72 Heading C1J A composition for making heat storage bricks by kilning comprises a mixture of magnesia sinter containing free lime, basalt in at least sufficient proportion to neutralize the free lime on kilning and a binder. The composition may contain up to 10 wt. per cent basalt based on the magnesia sinter, and the magnesia sinter may contain 80-85 wt. per cent MgO and have a free lime content of 0À4-1À0 wt. per cent and a SiO 2 content of 4-5 wt. per cent. The heat-storage brick may be made by moulding the composition, drying and kilning at 1300‹ C. to 1430‹ C. Example 2 describes the production of a brick from 55% wt. magnesia sinter (1-3 mm.), 9 wt. per cent (0À09-1 mm.) MgO sinter, 21 wt. per cent (less than 0À09 mm.) MgO sinter and 5 wt. per cent (less than 0À09 mm.) basalt together with a sulphite waste liquor binder.
