Abstract
1418653 Furnace linings VEITSCHER MAGNESITWERKE-AG 15 Dec 1972 [15 Dec 1971] 58081/72 Heading C1J A lining in an induction crucible furnace consists of or is derived from a tamping mass comprising magnesia with a lime to silica weight ratio of less than 2 : 1, and 2-15 wt. per cent Cr 2 O 3 as a spinel-forming addition. The magnesia may have a Fe 2 O 3 content less than 1À2 wt. per cent. The mass may comprise a magnesia with a lime to silica weight ratio of more than 2 : 1 and a siliceous material in such amount that the lime to silica weight ratio of the mass is less than 2. The siliceous material may be silica gel or water glass. The mass may also contain a sintering promoter (e.g. containing alkali). The examples describe tamping masses comprising magnesia, chrome oxide green and in some cases water glass or silica gel.
