139,432. Price, A. L. Oct. 10, 1919. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Laying and lighting fires.-In laying a fire in a domestic stove &c., the coal or the like its supported above the paper, wood, and the like by means of a grid or similar means fitted so as not to collapse when the paper &c. burns out. Fig. 1 shows a device consisting of a handle B, a foot D, and side bars E formed in one with a crossbar F fitted in a hole H in the bar A so as to hold the foot D in place. In a modification, the foot is supplemented or replaced by a hook K, Fig. 2, by means of which the device may be suspended from the top bar of a grate front. The aperture G in the part C is elongated so that by means of a pin L fitting into one of a series of holes M, the part A may be fixed at various heights above the grate bottom.
