Abstract

237,483. Nutter, A. Dec. 4, 1924 Convertible close and open fire-places; reflectors; h o t - plates.-Two independent shelflike members, of which one, A, is perforated, and the other, T, is plain, are pivotally mounted above the fire-space, means being provided to hold either or both of them at varying inclinations. In the form shown, they are pivoted on a frame F standing in the grate, and are supported in the raised position by engaging notches in bars D, E pivotally connected to one another and suspended from a notched rod C. In the horizontal position, the members serve to support utensils over the fire; when raised they act as heat-deflectors and prevent downdraughts. The grate may be fitted with inclined perforated back and side plates.
